Sakevičiūte lights the fire, Kibirkštis MRU double the win count

Livija Sakevičiūte scored 14 points in the first half to spark a decisive run and Kibirkštis MRU (2-1) posted a 70-59 win over Olimpia Grodno (0-3) on Monday, January 10, at the Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Livija Sakevičiūte had a second double-double this season and both times she led her team to a win.

Vilnius forward scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds enroute to a game high efficiency rating of 28.

Sakevičiūte scored 14 points in the first half alone and filled the stat sheet the rest of the way.

Kibirkštis captain finished the game with four assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

A 22 year old player has shown a remarkable progress.

Gabriele Sulske delivered as usual.

Lithuanian international scored nine of the 15 points in the second half.

Point guard added three steals, two steals and seven forced fouls.

Justina Miknaite had 14 points and seven points.

Egle Zabotkaite made 3-of-3 field goals from the three points and contributed with 13 points from the bench.

Dashkevich Vainius Sodeika

Natallia Dashkevich led Grodno with 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field.

Belarus center grabbed seven rebounds, stole the ball twice and forced eight fouls for a team high efficiency rating of 24.

Natallia Harbachova added 13 points, including a 3-of-6 effort from downtown.

Nadzeya Nadzezhka jumped in with two points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

Key stats

Kibirkštis MRU outscored Olimpia in the paint 38-28, especially in the first half 26-16.

Egle Zabotkaite and Livija Sakevičiūte made three three-pointers in a row to give Kibirkštis a 28-25 lead midway the second quarter.

The Sparks increased their lead up to seven points at the halftime 40-33 and never looked back.

Kibirkštis had 11 turnovers in the second half and lost the battle of rebounds but held Olimpia to 26 points after the break.

Vilnius bench, thanks to Zabotkaite, outscored Olimpia 21-15.
