Psareva and Stevens lift Nika over Peresvet SFEDU

A 2021 WNBA champion Azura Stevens scored 23 points in a debut and Varvara Psareva flirted with a triple double to push Nika Syktyvkar past Peresvet SFEDU 83-68 on Sunday, December 19, at Rostov on Don.

Varvara Psareva had a second huge game in as many days.

Power forward scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists for a game high efficiency rating of 27.

Yesterday Psareva had 15 points and 18 rebounds in a Russian Premier league game.

Azura Stevens played her first game in the EWBL and scored a game high 23 points.

Duke and UConn standout added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot for a efficiency rating of 26.

Tyasha Harris scored seven points, dished out six assists and stole the ball three times.

A 2017 NCAA champion made Dawn Staley proud – Harris turned the ball over just once.

Hind ben Abdelkader also had a memorable debut.

Belgium international scored 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-7 from the three point line.

Maria Cherepanova chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.

Ekaterina Riabova replied with 12 points for the hosts.

Ekaterina Voronina had 10 points, four rebounds and six assists.

Anastasia Maksimova and Ekaterina Osipova scored nine points each.

Key stats

Nika Syktyvkar jumped in front early in the game 26-11 and never looked back.

Tyasha Harris and Hind ben Abdelkader moved the ball – Nika starting guards turned the ball over just two times.

The Lynxes scored more points off turnovers (13-6).

Rostov on Don lacked production from the three point land, connecting just 4-of-19 attempts from downtown.

Game notes

Nika Syktyvkar played third game in five days, including a EuroCup Women home stand 103-74 against Roche Vendee from France.

Komi region team posted a 84-82 win over Peresvet SFEDU on Saturday, while using a seven player rotation.

Ben Abdelkader and Harris played 34 and 36 minutes on Saturday. They played 26 and 28 minutes on Sunday.

Peresvet SFEDU made 10-of-21 three point shots on Saturday and forced 17 turnovers too.

Nika Syktyvkar qualified for the playoffs.
