Peresvet SFEDU hold off Young Angels, claim 4-1 record

Ekaterina Riabova and Anastasia Maksimova scored five unanswered points in the last 68 seconds of regulation to complete a 78-72 win for Peresvet SFEDU (4-1) over Young Angels Košice (1-2) on Thursday, January 13, at the Tatran Hall in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Anastasia Maksimova led Peresvet SFEDU with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

Ekaterina Riabova posted 15 points and stole the ball three times.

Anastasia Kuplinova had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field.

Ekaterina Gunchenko struggled in shooting but worked hard enroute to six points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Pacific standout added four rebounds, three assists and three steals for a game high efficiency rating of 24.

Channon Fluker posted a double-double.

Cal State at Northridge (CSUN) alumni scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

Fluker dished out three assists and blocked three shots for a efficiency rating of 23.

Barbara Bohusova had a good shooting day and scored 11 points but missed two three pointers in the end.

Vanda Kristlova scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.

Key stats

Vanda Kristlova stole the ball and Valerie Higgins made a layup to cut the gap to a single point 73-72 with 01:32 left.

Ekaterina Riabova replied with a jump shot, while Barbara Bohusova missed a three point attempt to tie the game at 75.

Dominika Urbanova forced a foul and Anastasia Maksimova split the free throws for a four point lead with 00:44 to go.

Bohusova missed again from the deep and Maksimova was fouled again.

This time she made both attempts to set the final score.

Young Angels won the battle of rebounds 38-41 and scored more points in the paint 26-54.

Peresved SFEDU had more points in fast breaks 14-10.

Rostov on Don bench outscored Košice 47-23.

Peresvet SFEDU improved to 4-1 and may finish second in Group B.

Young Angels Košice will face SBŠ Ostrava on Friday to battle for a remaining ticket to the playoffs.
