Kibirkštis MRU won the first title of the season after a dramatic 60-55 success in the Queen`s Cup final against Aistes-LSMU Kaunas on Saturday, March 6, at the Jeep Arena in Vilnius.
Vilnius team won the Lithuania`s Federation Cup back in 2014 but didn`t finished the following Cup tournaments on the same high note.
Not this year.
Gitautas Kievina`s team outrebounded Aistes-LSMU 39-32 (offensive rebounds 11-1) and held their opponents scoreless for the last 02:08 minutes.
Justina Miknaite hit the game winning three pointer with 01:10 left, while Jacqueline Luna-Castro added two free throws two seconds before the final whistle.
Four Sparks finished in double figures. Gabriele Šulske and Justina Miknaite had 13 points each. Egle Zabotkaite scored 12 points and Ieva Savickaite added 10 points.
Karolina Kazočiūnaite replied with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Aistes-LSMU won the Queen`s Cup in 2019 and 2020.
